Pilates for Equestrians Class

Posted by Andrew on February 16, 2017

You don't have to ride horses to get your body tuned up for your summer sports passion at Pilates for Equestrians Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Millcreek Township Municipal Building, 3608 W. 26th St., in the assembly room.

Mark your calendar for this free event, led by Erie Hunt and Saddle Club* board member Sue Strohmeyer. Sue is certified from AAAI/SMA (American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association) in Mat Pilates and has taught once a week for two years, in addition to practicing Pilates for five years prior to that.
Bring a mat or thick bath towel and water. Please wear comfortable clothing you can stretch in. Sue will teach beginner movements as well as demonstrating more advanced movements if participants desire. “Since our bodies are all different fitness levels, there are modifications for most of the movements,” Sue says.

*Founded in 1962 under the motto “Horsemanship through Knowledge,” the Erie Hunt & Saddle Club has more than 50 acres of riding grounds on the corner of Eureka and Old State Roads in Franklin Center, just outside Erie, PA. (6840 Old State Road, Edinboro PA 16412.) We are the region’s premier nonprofit location for equine education, shows, and events.

Our riding grounds include three, sand-footed show and dressage rings, permanent stabling for 110 horses (with running water and electric), an announcer’s stand with permanent and portable sound systems, and a clubhouse with a kitchen and seating areas. We have stadium fences, lower-level cross-country schooling fences, and access to a cross-country course that can support starter through intermediate level riders and events.

We hold close to 30 horse shows and events from May through October, including two United States’ Equestrian Association recognized horse trails. In addition to the shows, we offer equine training and riding clinics throughout the year, contribute to -- and work with -- area charities, including our local Pony Club and 4H Clubs.

We bring hundreds of equestrians, their friends and family to our club from throughout the tri-state region and beyond.
